We are thrilled to announce the launch of one of our most ambitious testnets to date! This marks a monumental step forward for the project, introducing the Structs battle mechanics in a fully on-chain experience.
PvP Combat Takes Centre Stage
This testnet introduces the first player-versus-player (PvP) battle system, allowing players to engage in exciting Struct-on-Struct combat. The battles will feel a lot like you experience in our battle mechanics demo, but now the stakes are much higher!
In addition to the offensive-focused Fleet Structs, Planetary Structs are designed to stay on your planet, providing defense and production capabilities. These are essential for protecting your resources while your Fleet Structs, which are mobile, can be sent to battle on other planets or defend your home base.
You’ll need to balance offense, defense, and manage your energy to keep them all running smooth.
Tech Tree Expansion: Master New Structs and Combat Roles
Up until now, players could only build three core Structs in our testnets: Mining, Refining, and Power Plants. Now we’re offering the full technology tree for you to explore! You now have access to a variety of both Fleet and Planetary Structs, each with specialized roles in production, combat, or defense. The Fleet structs are mobile and suited offensive quests and defensive posturing, while the planetary structs are fixed to your home base, defending your resources and contributing to your Alpha production.
Interplanetary Warfare: The Art of Raiding
Winning a raid on an enemy planet involves more than brute force. There are three possible outcomes for a raid:
- Retreat: You can choose to retreat your fleet at any time, which ends the raid without any losses.
- Defeat: If your fleet’s Command Struct is destroyed, your fleet will be automatically sent back to your home planet.
- Success: The raid is successful if you’re able to take down an enemy’s Planetary Shield. The difficulty of this challenge decreases over time, but some planetary structs can be built by the defender to increase the difficulty, prolonging the challenge.
When you win a raid, the enemy's Alpha Ore is transferred to your home planet, and your fleet returns victorious.
System Improvements and Community Involvement
In addition to the core gameplay mechanics, this release includes several bug fixes and enhancements. We’ve refined the Struct build system, resolved stability issues, and added better error checking throughout. For the builders in our community, the game’s event system has been expanded to keep everything synchronized, ensuring smoother battles and resource management.
We are grateful for the community's ongoing support in identifying bugs and providing feedback on features. The insights from previous testnets helped us shape this release, and we can't wait to see how players interact with the new systems. As we move closer to the mainnet launch, we encourage everyone to continue participating. Your feedback is invaluable!
What’s Next?
This is just the beginning of our journey into fully realized on-chain PvP combat with a compelling economy, all intertwined with the operations of the game network. While this testnet is still a beta experience, it sets the foundation for what’s to come. Over the next few months, we will be gathering data on battle dynamics, pacing, and resource management to fine-tune the game ahead of the mainnet release.
As always, we expect to encounter bugs and gameplay tweaks as we test the limits of our system. Our last testnet supported 380,000 players without any issues, and we’re eager to push those boundaries even further. We look forward to the community’s creativity and the incredible battles that will unfold in this expansive universe!
Structs: Enterprise & Empire
In the distant future, the species of the galaxy are embroiled in a race for Alpha Matter—the rare and dangerous substance that fuels galactic civilization. Players take command of Structs, a race of sentient machines, to conquer worlds, forge alliances, defeat enemies and expand their influence.
Structs is a space-based strategy game designed around community play. Players and Guilds compete to mine Alpha Matter ($ALPHA), raid enemies, and defend their own resources in strategic PVP battles.
Alpha Matter fuels player growth and the infrastructure of the game itself, will be tradable for in-game assets or influence, and grants players a stake in the governance of the game.
